As soon as I wrote the title of this post, I giggled a little. Will people think I am talking about the type of mold that grows in damp places. Let’s set the record straignt – no, I am not talking about that mold! I am talking about the mold that we as moms try to fit ourselved into! Let me give you an example – you become a mom and your mold is “caregiver” but that mold will look different for everyone. For some it will be filled with hours of playtime, for others it will be filled with research on best ways to keep kids healthy, and for someone else it will mean to demostrate that their job is important to them because they thrive on feeling indepenent!
I think you understand where I am going with it! Motherhood, mom guilt and molds , OH MY!
I am not claiming to be an expert on this topic but I AM a mom and I do value being present with my kids and at the same time I value being myself! So this is my view and I hope it inspires you to take a look at your life journey as a mom and if my message does not resonate – GREAT! (I am learning how not to take thing personally) But if this makes you want to explore more of your personal views – then this post has done its job!
Let’s dive in! When we become moms – we have all these ideas of what we’ll do and what we would NEVER do! And I am willing to bet that if you are a mom and you are reading this, you will chuckle because you had all these grand ideas that started with “When I am a mom I will….” and then when reality hit you were like “Nah!”. That was the time when we took all these ideas about what a mom should do and how she should be and how she should NEVER BE and the mold was created – the “mom mold”. And we put ourselves into that mold! And every time we didn’t fit into that mold, we felt guilty! WELL, HELLO MOM GUILT!
So here are some thoughts to ponder:
-Did I outgrow the mold I have created for myself?
-Is the mold that I created outdated?
-Have I added to myself and to my idea of motherhood and need a new mold?
-Am I overflowing from the mold?
You are limitless! You don’t need to put yourself into the mold! Don’t compare yourself to others! You are you!
ESSENTIAL OILS: Present Time, Valor, Peace & Calming, Believe
It’s a toxic emotion and it has been studied that anger can literally poison our body! Anger can be expressed in many emotions and none of them make us feel good.
SO WHAT CAN WE DO?
Being aware of when you are experiencing the feelings of anger! What causes it? How do you deal with it? If you to be honest with yourself, it is most of the time due to some limiting belief you have about yourself!
Using yoga, affirmations, meditation and essential oils can help release the feelings of anger.
Liver is a body organ associated with the feeling of anger so yoga postures that support liver function will also support releasing anger.
RELEASE and ABUNDANCE are great Young Living blends to use along your yoga practice, meditation practice and affirmations!
Imagine having a tool in your wellness toolbelt that is always with you and helps you feel relaxed, focused and balanced! Learning a breathing technique is easy and so rewarding. You always have your breath with you! And if you don’t have your breath, then we have bigger problems!
Breathing is the only body function that we can control, so why not take full advantage of it?
This breathing technique is called Nadi Shodhana (nah-dee show-DAH-nah) and it helps you feel calmer, relaxed and balanced. The literal translation from Sanskrit is Channel (Nadi) cleansing/purifying (Shodhana).
Benefits of using Essential Oils with this technique!
When we combine this breathing technique with the therapeutic benefits of essential oils, we create an extra tool for ourselves. This technique is great because it only requires your breath so it can be performed anytime anywhere. But when we add oils – Frankincense for grounding, Lavender for calming, Peppermint for uplifting and focus, Valor for courage, Peace&Calming for inner peace and Stress Away to release those stressful feelings – we link the scent of these oils through our sense of smell with our limbic system of the brain. The limbic system is refered to as the “seat of emiotion” so when we smell that scent the next time our brain will link it to the emotion of calmness and balance. If you don’t have the oils yet – here is where you can get yours https://oily.life/katieyev/
Hey, MAMA! Happy International Women’s Day! I know you are awesome and pour so much into your family! But I am here to remind you to pour into yourself!
Take that perfect piece for YOURSELF! You know when you are cutting cute perfect veggie pieces for your kids to snack on and eating the imperfect pieces yourself? Or washing those beautiful plump strawberries just to snack on the one that looks like it’s had a rough day? STOP! Take that perfect veggie piece for yourself. Go for that plump perfect strawberry! YOU DESERVE IT! No one will benefit from this sacrifice but what you are telling your subconcious is – I am not worthy of great things I am only worthy of those that no one else will want! NO! First take care of you and then everyone around you will benefit. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MINDSET! Affirmations are great for that! This goes for things other than veggies and fruit! But I think you know that!
Set time aside to focus on yourself. Nope, that’s not selfish this is SELF-LOVE! We are pouring into family, into tiny humans, into new generation – how are we going to do that if we are running on empty! Focus on YOU! The best way for me is morning affirmations, meditation, and putting my moisturizer on. MOISTURIZER? What’s that about? Self-care of course. I use to slap that moisturizer on and run downstairs to tend to lunches and breakfast and folders that have to be in the backpack. And now I am intentional with applying my moisturizer. Really, Katie, are we still talking about moisturizer? Yup! And here is why – when I apply my moisturizer I do it intentionally. I massage my face the way it needs to be massaged – because I am in my mid-30s and apparantely gravity plays a role! I spend time looking at myself in the mirror and admiring my skin, my smile, noticing my eyebrows that need some care! SELF-CARE doesn’t have to be SPA – ALL DAY – NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN! ROUTINE IS KEY! It has to happen every day and this is what works for me!
Essential oils!!! These bottles of joy help me set intentions, focus my attention on things that are important, energize me, ground me, and raise my vibrations! Every month I do a zyto scan for my family (Zyto technology is like a lie detector test for your wellness and gives you suggestions on oils and supplements that your body can benefit from). This month my scan was all about emotional wellbeing! I scanned for Motivation, Awaken, Nutmeg, Bergamot and Cortistop! Let me backtrack for a second! I should share that I have been feeling low – creativity has been low, desire to try new things have been low – pretty much full hybernation! Due to all of that energy has been pretty low too. And everything has been done in overdrive mode! So what do these awesome Zyto scan results tell me? One – get your oils on, girl! Put that Motivation, Awaken and Bergamot on! Diffusing Bergamot is uplifting and just brightens everyone’s mood. WHY nutmeg and cortistop you ask? Because those are fantastic for energy! Nutmeg helps support adrenals and cortistop helps support normal corstisol levels! I am sticking with these for the month of March and adding them to my self care routine! It’s jus the SUPPORT I need!
Everyone’s self care will look different! But it comes down to MINDSET (doing something you desire for yourself) ROUTINE (creating one that makes you slow down and focus on you) and SUPPORT (finding things that support you whether it’s oils or journaling or calling a friend!) EASY PEASY! HARD PART? Sticking with it! But you are worth it! And everyone benefits from it!
